Super Bowl Party

Super Bowl Party

Are you ready for Super Bowl LV (55) next Sunday? Everyone loves to host a Super Bowl party, or any football party! It is fun, loud and, most importantly, there is usually a lot of good food and drinks! BUT when your team is part of the Super Bowl, then the party is even better!!!

GO KANSAS CITY CHIEFS!!! Bring us the win- Super Bowl 2021!

Okay, back to the party…your mind can go crazy trying to narrow down a selection of foods you want to have for your guests (or in this day and age, for your immediate family…hey the party is still real!). I’ve already thought of about 30 different things I’d like to make while getting to this point of this post. If you don’t want to drive yourself crazy (or crazier than you might already be 🙂 ), then narrow down your menu.

Thinking, thinking, thinking….okay, I’ve narrowed it down, from those 30 things I was originally wanting to make, to 7. By the time it’s all said and done I’ll probably have made 10 different dishes/drinks. That is still much better than 30! AND some of your dishes can be as easy as opening a bag of chips and throwing some salsa or dip in a bowl, or throwing an assortment of nuts in a beautiful dish (preferably in the colors of the team you want to win), or buying a platter of sushi! As a matter of fact, having a few pre-made items is good and allows you to be less stressed and exhausted, before the party even begins, and actually enjoy the party yourself!

Also, I’ve titled this post Super Bowl Party, but you can use these dishes/ideas for any type of party and you can change up the colors of the drinks/dishes to be color specific to your theme. Since my theme is KC Chiefs, I am going with the colors Red, White, and Yellow. Again…GO CHIEFS!!!

So what is on the menu? I am making, and guests (well, this year only my immediate household family) will be drinking/eating/enjoying:

Frozen Strawberry Pineapple Coconut Chiefaritas

Yes folks, I made that up…I think it sounds kind of cool. What a full flavored lip smacking drink. These are non-alcoholic but you can add tequila to your liking!

Red and White Cherry Spritzers

Another non-alcoholic beverage, after all, there are going to be kids at this gathering! Easy to put together and refreshing.

Chips and Salsa

Store bought tortilla chips with salsa (this is one of those “throw in the bowl” items), or any other type of chip and dip you like. It’s always good to have a few easy to bring together stuff.

Loaded Greek Style Hummus with Pita Bread

You can make your own hummus or buy it to save time and doctor it up however you like.

Chicken and Pork Satay with Peanut and Cucumber Sauces

I learned these recipes in my time in Thailand, at the Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy. What a wonderful experience, and wonderful recipes!

Sliced Ribeye with Chimichurri Sauce

Such a flavorful and low carb selection. Succulent steak with the herbaceous punch from the chimichurri sauce that kicks a spicy punch.

Decorated Cut Out Sugar Cookies with Wilton Royal Icing

Decorated in a KC Chiefs theme, these cookies are tasty and cute. Also, decorate the cookie plate before laying them on it! Your family will LOVE these. Again, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, if there are recipes out there you like, use them! If you prefer a different flavor of cookie then by all means, make what you like!

Sushi Platter

Another store bought item I had to have since several of my kids and grandkids love it. It’s already packaged in the perfect bite sized pieces, so perfect for a party. You can find sushi at just about any grocery store these days, or order some from your favorite restaurant and arrange on a platter. Buying a combo platter is even better, so guests have choices 🙂 .

Pineapple and Strawberry Skewers

This is easy to make, you just buy some fresh strawberries and pineapple (or your fruit of choice) and put them on a skewer. You can buy the fruit pre-cleaned and cut or you can do it yourself. You can also serve with a chocolate ganache, if you like. Don’t throw away the stem of the pineapple…it makes a nice decorative presentation.

Mediterranean Chicken Salad

This is a hearty and well rounded salad. You have your veggies, your protein, your dairy, your healthy fats, and your grains with the addition of some crumbled pita chips for some crunch!

Store Bought Mini Lemon Cakes

You need to have a couple of sweets at a party. These are my daughter Lexi’s favorite! Just take them out of the container and place them on a plate, or use your favorite bite sized dessert!

Okay, I guess that was 11 items, instead of 7…but like I said…by the end of it all, there will probably be more, especially if guests bring a thing or two (well maybe not too many guests this year, but next year)!

So, start planning your menu for Super Bowl XLV, even if it is just your household group this year, it’s still a party, and give one or two of my recipes a try! For many other recipes, checkout “What’s Cooking” .

GO CHIEFS!!!

Let the festivities begin!
