Are their times where you are tired of using the typical cracker or chip with your dips or as a crunchy snack? Me too! At those times a nice crispy pita chip fits the bill. Yes, you can go buy a bag of commercialized pita chips, which are okay and work in a pinch, but they are not as flavorful as these pita chips (at least in my opinion 🙂 ).
These can be made totally crunchy or with a slight crunch and a tender chewiness. Best of all, they are easy to make and can be done in less than 30 minutes, start to finish!
You just need:
- 6 pita bread rounds (white or wheat, store bought or homemade)
- 1/8 cup olive oil
- 1/8 cup lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Whisk the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt and pepper until combined and thickened.
- Brush it generously on both sides of your pita bread.
- Stack pita and cut in half, then cut each half in fourths. So, 8 triangles per pita. If you prefer square chips then cut them in squares 🙂 .
- Place pita on a sheet pan, in a single layer, leave some space in between if you can.
- Bake for 15 minutes, turn and bake another 10 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy! Well, let them cool for a couple of minutes first so you don’t burn yourself 🙂 .
